Sugavive M2 used for patients with type 2 diabetes who require more aggressive blood sugar lowering than lower-dose combinations can provide. This formulation acts as a "step-up" therapy, offering stronger glycemic control by combining a standard therapeutic dose of a sulfonylurea with foundational metformin: Glimepiride (2mg): A sulfonylurea at a standard maintenance dose. It actively lowers blood sugar by stimulating the beta cells of the pancreas to secrete more insulin. The 2mg dose provides a stronger, more sustained reduction in HbA1c compared to the 1mg starting dose, making it highly effective for patients with greater insulin deficiency. Metformin SR (500mg): A biguanide in a Sustained Release formulation. It addresses insulin resistance by decreasing the amount of glucose produced by the liver and improving the uptake of glucose in muscle tissues. The SR format releases the drug gradually to minimize common gastrointestinal side effects.
